Digital Media

Within the MEJO 121 course I enrolled in for the spring semester of the 2024-2025 school year, our professor, Peter Doyle, taught us how to plan, shoot, edit, and publish feature videos about topics of our choosing. These videos range in length, and were edited using Adobe Premiere Pro software.

HTML/CSS

In the spring MEJO 121 class, we were also taught the basics of HTML and CSS coding using the application Visual Studio Code, and how they can be employed to create website interfaces, as well as improving specific visual elements of websites using CSS coding.

Infographics

In the spring MEJO 121 class, Professor Doyle showed us the power of infographics within the digital media landscape. The class used the website Canva to provide templates and spaces where we could create infographics to relate back to more projects within the course.

HTML/CSS Coding

To enhance our knowledge and give us experience with HTML/CSS coding, we were assigned a project where we had to create a website only using HTML/CSS coding, with the help of ChatGPT to make minor changes to our code. The website was to have a home page, an about the author page, and a portfolio page showcasing our work from the course thus far.

The links below will take you to each page of the website created using HTML/CSS coding:

Wrestling to Weightlifting: How Staying Fit Inspires Careers

This was the first feature video assignment done in the spring MEJO 121 class. The video’s subject is rising sophomore Caroline Baker. Baker is from Bunn, North Carolina, and is majoring in a B.S. in Exercise and Sport Sciences. This video follows Baker’s journey of joining her high school wrestling team, and how her passion for the sport manifested a love for lifting weights in her life past high school, even ending up prompting her to choose a major that her encompasses every-day activities and appreciation for the gym.

Infographic: The History of Women’s Wrestling

To go along with my first feature video about Caroline Baker’s wrestling career, I created an infographic highlighting major events in the developments of women’s wrestling as a sport. The infographic was created using Canva.

Dumb Renaissance: A Small Band Making Big Moves

For the second feature video made in MEJO 121, I filmed an up-and-coming college-indie band at UNC called Dumb Renaissance. The four members share stories of the bands creation, song writing, and upcoming gigs.
